FAQ

As we are committed to the promotion of environmental healing, health and wellbeing, we work exclusively with certified organic tea gardens. Some of our partners are not USDA certified organic but are certified by other globally recognized certification agencies and bodies such as Ecocert. All our teas are free of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or weed-killers. More information on an individual tea's environmental impact and certifications can be found in each tea's product page.

The leaves of Camellia Sinensis naturally produce and contain caffeine, therefore all our teas contain some level of caffeine. In their dry state, these levels vary and are determined by tea type and how they were prepared and processed. For example, the oxidization process breaks down caffeine and therefore black tea will have less caffeine than green or white teas, both of which are unoxidized.

Caffeine content of the tea liquor you drink is further determined by how long you steep the leaves and the temperature of the water. As a general rule, the lower the temperature and the shorter the steeping time, the less caffeine will be released in the water. You can further control the caffeine by keeping in mind the tea type (i.e. black or green). For example, while green tea may contain more caffeine due to its unoxidized state, that is balanced by lower temperature water and shorter steeping times.

For more information, visit our Caffeine and Brewing Guidelines pages to better understand how to effectively control and benefit from the natural amounts of caffeine in our teas.

Keep your tea in a tea caddy or airtight container and store in cool, dry, dark place.

The more you expose your tea to oxygen, the more it will age so we recommend consuming your tea within 6 months for optimum freshness, flavor and nutritional benefits. That said, it won't 'go bad' after 6 months and will still be very drinkable.

Our tea caddies are air-tight, reusable, and easy on the eyes! Purchase your favorite tea with caddy and then order refill bags to keep reusing your caddy.

Yes! Nearly all of our packing products (boxes and package filling) are recyclable, made of recycled material and/or are biodegradable. An exception to this occurs with the foil lining of our refill bags which ensures your tea arrives to you sealed from oxygen, protected from bacteria, and kept fresh.

Our tea caddies are made of tin and are highly recyclable. Tin is actually considered to be the most sustainable recyclable material as it has no limit on the amount of times it can be reused. That said, we highly recommend saving your caddies and reusing them for more tea or other dry goods storage in your house.
