Brewing Guidelines

Your taste is unique to you. The brewing guidelines below are merely suggestions. 
We invite you to experiment and discover your own way of enjoying tea.

Red & Black Teas

Teapot

16oz (473ml)
Can steep up to 2 times​
2 heaped teaspoons (6-8g) to 16oz (473ml) water at boiling (212F)  for 3-5 minutes.

 
24oz (710ml)
Can steep up to 2 times​
3 heaped teaspoons (10-12g) to 24oz (710ml) water at boiling (212F)  for 3-5
 minutes.

32oz (946ml) 
Can steep up to 2 times
​
4 heaped teaspoons (14-16g) to 32oz (946ml) water at boiling (212F)  for 3-5 minutes.

*If you take milk with your tea consider steeping for the maximum amount of time.  We don't recommend heating the milk up as it changes the flavor of the tea too drastically.



Gaiwan

100-125ml
Can steep up to 8-10 times​
 

2 heaped teaspoons (5-8g) to 100-125ml water at boiling (212F)  for 10-15 seconds.

With each steep add an extra 5-10 seconds.

Green Teas

Teapot

16oz (473ml)
Can steep up to 2 times​
heaped teaspoons (6-8g) to 16oz (473ml) water at 175F  for 3 minutes. 

24oz (710ml)
Can steep up to 2 times​
3 heaped teaspoons (10-12g) to 24oz (710ml) water at 175F for 3 minutes.

32oz (946ml) 
Can steep up to 2 times
4 heaped teaspoons (14-16g) to 32oz (946ml) water at 175F for 3 minutes.​


Gaiwan

2 heaped teaspoons (5-8g) to 100-125ml water at 175F  for 10-15 seconds.

With each steep add an extra 5-10 seconds.

NOTE: 175F is the ideal temperature for Green Tea.  Bring your kettle to a boil and let it sit off heat for few minutes to bring it to approximately 175F.
