A Tale of Two Sisters

Two sisters of one Mother, descendants of Camellia,
named for the lands which bore them-
Sinensis for the Kingdom of Qin
and Assamica for the Kingdom of Assam.
Of different homelands, but of the same alchemy,
Soil, Sun & Water.
Their craft an ancient one:
The Medicine of Earth

Use of the ancient species of plant Camellia Sinensis dates back thousands of years to the foothills of the Himalayas, where indigenous people consumed them as medicine.

Birthed of this species are two distinct varieties, known by their given scientific Latin names: the siblings of Camellia Sinensis v. Sinensis & Camellia Sinensis v. Assamica;  'Sinensis' meaning 'From China' and 'Assamica' named for its birthplace Assam, India.  Nearly all teas we enjoy today come from the leaves of these two sister plants, each with their own characteristics shaped by terroir, technique, culture & history.

The leaves of a Camellia Sinensis plant contain high levels of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals with immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties.  They are known for aiding digestion, the production of healthy gut flora, and regulating cholesterol and blood sugar.  And as Buddhist monks have known for over a thousand years, they help to improve focus, energy, and elevate your mood, without jitteriness.

When you drink tea, you are drinking ancient medicine.
